VacayStore Members Visits Tarpon Springs

VacayStore members recently had the opportunity to visit the charming town of Tarpon Springs, known for its Greek heritage and sponge diving industry. The group was excited to explore the historic Sponge Docks area, lined with shops offering an array of sponges and authentic Greek souvenirs. Walking along the docks, they soaked in the lively atmosphere filled with bustling seafood restaurants serving delicious Mediterranean dishes.

The members took a leisurely boat tour to learn about the history of sponge diving in Tarpon Springs and even witnessed a traditional sponge diving demonstration firsthand. They were amazed by the skilled divers plunging into the clear waters to harvest natural sponges – an age-old tradition passed down through generations.

After indulging in some delectable baklava from a local bakery, they strolled through picturesque streets adorned with whitewashed buildings and vibrant bougainvillea flowers, and the day ended with a scenic sunset cruise along the Gulf Coast, providing breathtaking views of Florida’s stunning shoreline.
